The Riverwalk is open Thursday - Monday until October 14th, no reservation required!
Get up close and personal with the river on our Riverwalk tour at Ausable Chasm. Start by entering the Gatehouse and make your way to the Punchbowl stairs via the yellow trail. After your descent, you will walk over your first suspended bridge surrounded by towering rock walls and the mighty Ausable River below you. Following that, your guide will walk you to your second suspended bridge while sharing stories about the chasm and explaining the unique geological formations carved out from the melting glaciers following the last ice age. Once over the second suspension bridge, you will scuttle down to river level and witness one of the most spectacular views of this geological wonder. After a few more scenic pit stops, you can meet up with your friend or family members who may have taken the Adventure Trail, returning the way you came, back over the suspension bridges to the Inner Sanctum trail.
*The suspension bridges have a wide wooden plank down the middle and cargo netting on the side, so it does not require a harness. The Riverwalk takes 30-45 minutes and is available for everyone ages 5, and up. Helmets are required and provided and must fit securely and properly. Closed-toed shoes are required.
The Riverwalk tours are very popular during the summer. We advise you to come early to avoid a possible wait for the Riverwalk portion of your visit. Reservations are not accepted for the Riverwalk so you might wait 30 minutes or more between 12pm and 2pm. We think the experience is worth the wait, but if you don't have ample time, please arrive early. We open at 9am, daily.
