Get ready to experience Ausable Chasm like never before! The Riverwalk Tour takes you deep into the canyon for a thrilling, up-close encounter with the power and beauty of the Ausable River. Perfect for families and adventurers ages 5 and up, this guided journey blends breathtaking views, fascinating natural history, and a touch of Adirondack adventure.

Your expedition begins with a 200-step descent into the very heart of the Chasm. From a riverside viewpoint, take in the magnificent Rainbow Falls before continuing along the smooth, water-worn path beside the river. At ground level, you’ll stand in awe before the iconic Elephant’s Head and the rushing rapids that have shaped this landscape for millennia.
Your expert guide will lead the way as you explore Devil’s Oven and look up to see Jacob’s Ladder towering high above.
Then comes the moment every adventurer remembers—your first suspension bridge crossing. Feel the excitement as the roar of the river rises beneath you and ancient canyon walls close in around you.
Safely secured by sturdy planks and cargo netting, you’ll continue along a river ledge trail to your second suspension bridge, where sweeping views and adrenaline meet. Afterward, your journey leads into the Inner Sanctum, a serene finale to an unforgettable adventure through one of nature’s most spectacular creations.
Next, you'll step back in time as you walk our scenic nature trails in the midst of a primeval Adirondack Forest. Stroll past Rainbow Falls, Elephant's Head, Column Rock, Hyde's Cave and the eerie quiet of Mystic Gorge. Descend hundreds of feet to walk within the chasm on natural stone walkways and bridges to gaze upon eons of geologic history etched in stone. Our many bridges, stairs and vistas make this unique adventure possible. A truly breathtaking experience!

After a minimum one mile walk, you’ll board a raft and float through the narrowest and deepest region of Ausable Chasm. Experienced guides navigate the rafts between the towering cliffs of the Grand Flume, past the Broken Needle and around the Whirlpool Basin while discussing the geology and history of the chasm. The rapids found mid-way through the float tour are always a visitor favorite!
$54.95/regular (13+), $44.95/child (5-12)
To avoid wait times (often 30 minutes or more between 12 PM and 2 PM), we recommend arriving early. We open daily at 9 AM—come early and start your day in the Chasm!
Following the float tour, guests have several options. You can explore the Rim Trail for birds-eye views of the chasm, meander through two smaller "dry" chasms on the Dry Chasm Trails, or simply hop aboard one of our trolleys for a quick and easy return to the welcome center.
