In 2007, Ausable Chasm was pleased to announce the opening of our much anticipated extension of our popular “Rim Walk”. Never before, throughout Ausable Chasm’s 139 years as a natural attraction, has any visitor been able to walk the entire rim and peer into the vast chasm below - adding nearly two miles of adventure! Our new vistas along the rim are nothing short of spectacular and provide ample bird-watching opportunities! View the Great Blue Heron as it swoops below you through the Chasm as well as Blue Jays, Robins, and maybe a Peregrine Falcon. You'll also have a chance to spot a Bald Eagle! View various birds and wildflowers at our new "Wildflower Meadow" and stroll past many of the scenic locations where Hollywood filmed at least five major films including the very popular suspense serial, "The Perils of Pauline" starring Pearl White. How will you return to the Welcome Center after you're done exploring?...hop aboard Miss Cassidy, our newly acquired trolley for a complimentary return trip. Just one more reason to visit Ausable Chasm this season!!!
