1,000 acres....Yours to Explore......Experience the Sights and Sounds of Ausable Chasm......Waterfalls, Scenic Vistas, Nature Trails, Rafting, Tubing, Camping.....and more........an Adirondack Adventure for the Entire Family!

 134th Season - est. 1870

Step back in time as you walk the nature trails in the midst of a primeval Adirondack Forest.  Stroll past Rainbow Falls, Elephant's Head, Column Rock, Hyde's Cave and the eerie quiet of Mystic Gorge.  Descend hundreds of feet and walk the natural stone walkways within the Chasm and gaze upon eons of geologic history etched in stone.  Take a scenic raft or tube adventure on the legendary waters of the Ausable River through a maze of breathtaking rock formations sculpted across thousands of years by the river's currents.

Ausable Chasm is as breathtaking now as it was 400 years ago when Samuel De Champlain first explored the Champlain Valley.  More than 10 million visitors have enjoyed the natural splendor of this Adirondack wonder which began its formation during the Cambrian age - 500 million years ago!  This is when the rushing water of the powerful Ausable River began cutting its way deeper into a fault in the Potsdam sandstone strata.  Today a tour of Ausable Chasm is an education on Adirondack natural history and a recreational vacation rolled into one!  chasm info (visitors information)...
