Over 10
million visitors have explored Ausable Chasm, the oldest
natural attraction in the USA (est. 1870)!* The
amazing sights of the chasm will take
your breath away. Enjoy walking along our towering cliff walks in the
midst of a primeval forest that peers into the chasm from many scenic
overlooks and vistas. Descend 150 feet into the depths of the
chasm to walk
along our famous Inner Sanctum trail that has amazed guests for 138
years! Sturdy walkways, bridges and stairs make this adventure
possible - a unique experience that is not to be missed! While
inside the chasm, ride the legendary Ausable River with your family in a
river raft or choose an inner tube for a
one-of-a-kind adventure.

Walking...Wander
for
several miles (over 3
miles available - 1 mile minimum) on our well-maintained, self-guided walking
trails where one breathtaking view after another awaits. Each of
the many scenic vistas
provides our guests with a different perspective of
the natural beauty of Ausable Chasm while interpretive signage
describes native flora, wildlife, and geologic history. What's
new? We've added another mile of trail to our popular "Rim Walk"
that now allows our guests to explore the entire chasm on foot! Also, you can now view dozens of flowers at our "Wildflower
Meadow" near our Trolley/Bus Stop at Table Rock."

Rafting...Our
rafting tours are an exciting experience for the entire family (2 and
up). After
you are suited with a life jacket an experienced guide
navigates the raft between the towering cliffs of the "Grand Flume" and
past the "Broken Needle." You cruise through the rapids and around
the "Whirlpool Basin" and the tour ends with a long glide into the
landing area where a trolley/shuttle bus will return you to the welcome
center.
Or, choose to explore even more by walking back along our new "Rim
Walk."
Tubing...For
the more adventurous (must be 48" tall). Hop into an inner tube and float down
the
Ausable River at your own pace. Tubes and life jackets provided.
Please note: lockers are not available at the tubing start
location - please plan accordingly. You'll want to leave the
entrance location (one mile from tubing) ready to get wet and have some
fun! Water shoes (or shoes you don't mind getting wet) are a must.
Water shoes are available in our gift shop.
At Night...Discover
the beauty of Ausable Chasm at night! The "Lantern Tour" is our
only
guided
walking tour. At dusk, each person is supplied a lantern while
our knowledgeable guides lead your group into the Chasm. As you
descend into the dark canyon 150 feet below you will marvel at this
awe-inspiring sight. Tour includes a community campfire and
marshmallow roast. more...
