Ducky Tour

backGuests looking for a longer and more adventurous paddle than our classic raft or tube ride should try our "River Ducky Trip". We use one and two person duckies (inflatable, sit-on-top kayaks) for this class II whitewater trip. The trip meets at Table Rock Pond, next to Bus Stop #1, where guests meet their guide and are fitted with a personal flotation device and a helmet.

Guides give a brief lesson in river safety and paddling before descending to the put-in at Table Rock. While paddling the Grand Flume, guides will teach the group basic paddling stokes and maneuvers before dropping into the rapids and the whirlpool basin. At the end of the Chasm where the raft and tube ride ends, we catch our breath before paddling the biggest waves of the day. This section of class II rapids consists of river features such as wave trains, holes, slides and boulders. At the end of this half mile rapid the group will get a lesson in play-boating while attempting to "surf" the duckies. The last couple of miles are a mix of class I - II rapids and flat water, twisting and turning around a maze of beautiful islands known for many wildlife sightings.

During periods of high water (in the spring or after heavy rain), we use small six person rafts to tackle the class III whitewater. In periods of very low water, we explore more of the Chasm and shorten the distance we paddle beyond the Chasm. Trips are cancelled only for extreme flood, drought or lightning events. Water shoes, sandals or sneakers are required (no flip-flops) as guests must be prepared to carry their own ducky a short distance. Guests must be 13 years old and possess a good level of physical fitness as well as the ability to swim. Approximately one hour on the river.
